Going to the gym is a pain in the backside sometimes, isn’t it?
Take this week for example. I’m up to my eyeballs with work, Mrs T. needs me to do a tonne of lifting and shifting in the garden, I’ve an outing planned with my daughter, plus a load of other stuff I’ve not mentioned.
I’m not whinging. I know what I’ve described is a fairly typical week for any adult man who lives in the real world. Hell, I’m lucky ‘cuz I know many guys have it a whole lot worse than I do.
But nevertheless, the fact remains that training under these conditions is tough and, frankly, somewhat of an inconvenience.
So what’s a guy to do?
Easy. Train less.
Listen: You don’t have to find time to squeeze in the gym five, four, or even three days per week.
In fact, when you’re busy, this is actually one of the worst things you can possibly do. Because, if you’re stressed, tired, or otherwise not on top form your workouts will suffer.
Hence, I believe the smart thing to do is cut your gym sessions back to just two per week.
Of course, two gym sessions per week do not a killer physique make. So, you will have to do other stuff outside of the gym. However, smashing through a bodyweight circuit or doing some sprints is markedly more convenient than going to the gym. (This type of training is also far better for losing fat than the typical weights routine).
Anyway, I’ve a thing to sell you — if it’s right.
It’s my (to my knowledge) one-of-a-kind monthly printed newsletter, The Phil Tyreman Letter.

Thank you,

P.S. With going to the gym, you have to account for more than just the time it takes you to complete your workout.
The commute… changing… chatting to staff and your mates… etc. etc. etc.
Altogether this means a 1-hour workout can easily take up twice that amount of time.
Not ideal when you have a demanding job, family, and interests beyond picking heavy stuff up and putting it down.
The solution is to train more efficiently and effectively. Something I write about regularly in The Phil Tyreman Letter.
