The key to enjoying “guilt free” meals out

A couple of nights ago, Jess and I visited an “all you can eat” brazilian steakhouse called Caramba.

Truly, it’s something else.

Every five minutes or so, a nice man graces your table bearing a dead animal of some description and a large knife that he uses to skillfully slice chunks of perfectly cooked meat onto your plate until you tell him to stop.

Then there’s the salad bar (which contains even more meat).

If you ever have the misfortune of finding yourself in Selby, North Yorkshire, you should definitely eat at this restaurant. Everything about it from the food to the decor is divine and the whole experience moved me on a profoundly emotional level – a feat no other restaurant has achieved in all my 33 years on planet Earth.

Alright, enough shilling.

Here’s my point:

I was able to go out on a whim and shove well over a kilo of meat into my ever-open mouth without any consequences because cardio is a fixed, firm part of my routine.

While it’s true you can’t outrun your fork, pounding the pavements on the regular does give you a tremendous amount of wriggle-room.

Wriggle-room you can use to enjoy an indulgent meal out with your missus.

Ice cream with your kid(s).

And so on.

But only if you’re consistent.

Something many men –  even those who take their training very seriously – struggle with, in my experience.

That’s why I unpack the three main reasons preventing them from successfully and sustainably integrating cardio into their training routine in this month’s issue of The Phil Tyreman Letter.

It’s not all theory, however, as this issue also includes two complete programmes you can start using immediately – likely with a few tweaks to account for your fitness levels, other training, etc.

Speaking of those tweaks, if you get stuck, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me via email or WhatsApp, and I’ll sort you out – no fuss; no hassle. (Usually within 12 hours, but seldom more than 24 in any case).

This goes for anything I’m qualified to assist you with, by the way.

The deadline to subscribe in time to receive March’s issue is tonight (29th) at midnight.

P.S. Here’s a bulleted summary of what you’ll get in March’s issue:

* The three reasons why most men who lift weights do little or no cardio. If you find yourself starting a cardio routine and then stopping again I can almost guarantee at least one of these reasons applies to you, and unless you understand *why* you’re struggling you’ll forever remain trapped in this most pernicious of cycles.

* Why cardio is the ultimate “ego check” for men who are respectably (or even just fairly) strong.

* The two forms of cardio and how their symbiotic relationship means that if you do one without the other, you’ll never get results worthy of all your hard work.

* How to get into shape very quickly – in under two hours per week. (I seldom make bold claims like this, but on this occasion, I’ve no qualms in doing so because it’s simply the truth – subject to the obvious caveat of you Doing The Work™).

* A step-by-step guide to building your own cardio routine from scratch. My process requires effort and a healthy dose of critical thinking, but learning how to create your own programme is infinitely better than being spoon-fed cookie-cutter nonsense.

* How often you should do a certain type of cardio depending on your specific training goals.

* What I believe to be the best cardio duration for fat loss. (Some vehemently disagree with me on this while others think I’m a genius. All I know is what I suggest works very well, in my experience).

* A big (but by no means exhaustive) list of different types of cardio activities to get your cogs whirring.

* Two (almost) “plug and play” cardio programmes to propel you towards a fitter, healthier, and better body. I know I implied the best programme is the one you write yourself, but it would be remiss of me to not at least give you a framework for inspiration – so I’m giving you two.

* Perhaps the most brutal parting words I have ever committed to paper and ink. They’re certainly not for the faint of heart, but every word is true and written with your long-term success in mind.

Subscribers will also enjoy a bonus this month in the form of my prestigious “Running Starter Kit”.

This concise and straightforward guide will take you from not running at all to confidently running respectable distances multiple times per week.
