Shamelessly biased take on sports supplements

Here is something that confuses me greatly:

The way many people spend well over one hundred and, in extreme cases, several hundred pounds per month on sports supplements despite getting nothing more than a moderate gastrointestinal upset in return.

To be clear, I am not “against” sports or other nutritional supplements.

Principally because I am not qualified to speak definitively on the subject given that I am not a doctor or dietitian.

However.

I am certainly qualified to notice the price of stuff like whey protein, pre workout, BCAAs, creatine, etc, compared to the negligible impact they will have on my results (even the most die-hard supplementarian will concede they offer a circa 1% advantage at most, and then only when training, diet, and rest are dialled in) and decide my funds are better used elsewhere.

Like, for example, on accessing quality information, programming, and support to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of my training.

But mine is a shamelessly biased opinion, for obvious reasons.

On that note…

If you want my information, programming, and support, subscribe to “The Phil Tyreman Letter” and it shall be yours.

P.S. Here’s some of what’s inside April’s issue:

* What I believe is the best style of lifting regime for those who are lacking in the cardiovascular department (and how not training in this way made doing meaningful cardio impossible for me, even when I had a job when I was literally paid to use a treadmill).

* Wisdom from indomitable strength coach, Dan John, that, when correctly applied, will make basically any workout more effective – and shorter.

* Nine figures of legend from the “Silver Era” of bodybuilding everyone who is serious about training would do well to study.

* The proper way to use weightlifting machines for maximum gains in muscle and strength.

* A brief history lesson proving most lifters (and, alas, many coaches) are misusing bands, chains, and other powerlifting accoutrements.

* Four dire consequences associated with chasing strength at the expense of everything else (rarely a week goes by when I don’t see an earnest and hardworking person struggling with at least one of these).

* How to get your wife or girlfriend or husband or boyfriend (and kids, if you have them) into training.
