How to look more powerful, quickly

Without a shadow of a doubt, the best way to improve the way you look is to build up your shoulders.

Why?

1) They increase the shoulder to waist ratio to create an aesthetically pleasing V-taper (associated with strength and health),

2) Clothes will fit much better as your shoulder girdle begins to resemble a coat hanger,

3) Few bother to train their shoulders properly (or at all) so you will instantly stand out, even among friends, family, and colleagues who train.

To that last point:

Something I have noticed since haunting weightlifting forums like bodybuilding.com and the fitness subforum of thestudentroom way back in 2010 is that shoulders are chronically undertrained.

Behold an example beginner split routine I’d see regularly on the aforementioned forums:

Day 1 – Chest and Triceps

Day 2 – Back and Biceps

Day 3 – Legs and Shoulders

Listen:

It is no secret that I am not a fan of bodypart splits for non-drug abusing trainees in almost all cases.

However.

If you are going to do a bodypart split of any kind then shoulders need their own day.

Maybe pair them with arms if you must, but never a “big” muscle group like chest or ,Heaven forfend, legs.

Anyway.

The reason I’m going on about this is that November’s issue of “The Phil Tyreman Letter” talks shoulder (and arm) training in considerable detail.

Subscribers also get virtually unlimited access to my large and shapely brain, which entitles them to ask me anything they like about training and get a swift, comprehensive response.

The deadline to get November’s issue is 23:59 on Thursday the 31st of October.
