Had a few people ask me why I don’t post much on social media any more.
My answer?
What I got out of it simply wasn’t worth the time and effort.
See, the problem with social media platforms is that their algorithms reward what gets attention, and not what is informative, entertaining, and useful.
There is certainly some crossover, and the people who can bridge the gap can potentially make bucketloads of cash.
But, alas, my personality is not conducive to wild success in those places, and a lot of my opinions, especially around the causes of obesity, the “modern lifestyle”, and so on just result in repeated bans. Heck, had I continued, I wouldn’t be surprised if I got an early morning knock from old bill, such is the direction of travel in our nation.
I even have to be careful with what I say in these emails. The fine gents who own the platform I use to send them won’t kick me off for expressing my opinion (an increasingly rare attitude, or so I’ve heard), but the various filters and other mechanisms email service providers use to curate what lands in the inbox might put my domain on the “naughty list” which would cause me all sorts of headaches (like not being able to earn a living by selling my books and newsletters).
That said…
One place I certainly do not have to pull my punches for fear of getting a love tap from the banhammer nor play the clown to please an algorithm is my print newsletter, “The Phil Tyreman Letter”.
Principally because there are no algorithms determining whether you’ll get to read it or not (to their credit, whatever I post, Royal Mail delivers) and also because I can’t be banned from my own newsletter (perk of owning your media).
What this means is, when you subscribe you’ll get the unfiltered truth, as I see it; not some santised version to please the terminally online blue-haired “health at every size” activists who wield far more power than they deserve nowadays.
All right, enough of this.
You can subscribe to The Phil Tyreman Letter for just £20 per month.
There is no minimum contract period and you can cancel at any time and for any reason (or no reason), the only “catch” is you can’t re-subscribe in the future if you do.
If I’ve piqued your interest in subscribing, please review the New and Improved sales and terms and conditions pages carefully to ensure your decision to subscribe is a fully informed one:
