Fail to prepare, prepare to fail

When was the last time you sat down and mapped out your training for the entire year?

My guess is somewhere between “a long time ago” and “never”.

It’s not your fault, though.

Here’s why: Fitness influencer La La Land is built on short-termism.

How else would they sell you their latest ReVoLuShUnArY 8-week programme? Or, as is increasingly the case, build a big social media following to get the sweet, sweet ad revenue they need to fund their PED habit?

Fact is, these people know you have a problem you want solved right now, so they prey on your heartfelt desire for results by offering you shiny objects that promise quick results.

That’s not to say all their stuff is bogus. To the contrary, a lot of it works; just not for long. And when you inevitably lose your results, they’re right there waiting to sell you the next “thing”.

My point is, if you want reliable, predictable, sustainable results you must plan ahead. Otherwise, you’ll just end up pinging from programme to programme like a ferret on speed – with nothing to show for all your hard work.

Mapping out your training takes a little critical thinking, but it’s not exactly onerous. See, another trap a lot of guys fall into is thinking unless they go into tremendous detail and account for every minutia, they may as well not bother.

While that might be true for athletes and those who train at a very high level, it’s categorically not for your typical guy who trains to be fitter, stronger, leaner, and healthier – and in many cases, it’s actually detrimental.

Speaking of planning your training, I’m going into this in some considerable detail in January’s issue of The Phil Tyreman Letter.

I’ll show you exactly how I sort my training out for the year ahead, so I’m always in better shape by the end than I am at the start.

When you subscribe, you’ll also get “virtually unlimited” access to me via email to ask questions and get advice. All private and confidential, of course.

A subscription is £100, which is £3.29 per day – a sum basically anyone can afford if they want to. Not that everyone should invest in a subscription ‘cuz it’s really not for everyone.

P.S. Just in case you missed it, l mentioned yesterday that I’m upping the frequency of my emails from every weekday to every day. If that’s “too much” because you find clicking delete or archive very stressful, click the link in the footer to unsubscribe.

P.P.S. But before you do, you should definitely read the handsome PDF I prepared explaining everything you need to know about The Phil Tyreman Letter – if you’re truly serious about building and maintaining a powerful physique.
