“Dogmatic” is a word that has been used to describe my beliefs about training.
While some might take this as an insult, I see it as a complement.
Why?
It means I am convinced of what works and what doesn’t, so don’t feel the need to go chasing whatever New and Exciting fitness trend is popular this week.
You might argue that this is “close minded” of me and perhaps you are right.
However, if there is one thing I have learned in my fifteen years of diligent, consistent training it is that having an open mind readily leads to one’s brain falling out and landing on the floor with a moist thunk.
Similar to the moist thunk you will hear when you, for example, tear a muscle while aping the hardcore training style favoured by some fitness personalities because it gets lots of views, likes, and comments on their various social media posts.
I should know, because what I read and saw on the interwebs drew me into believing that training “more” and “harder” is the key to superior, faster results on more than one occasion. Each time resulting in an injury of some description, a couple of which still plague me to this day.
Another advantage of my rigid thinking is that when you ask me a question on training one of two things will happen:
1) I’ll tell you I don’t know the answer because it is beyond my remit.
2) I’ll give you a specific, detailed response (I have been known to send 1000+ word emails, 10+ minute voice notes, and, in one recent case, a draft copy of a book I have written to clients who asked me for aid).
In either case, what you will get is unequivocal and I have been told that inspires much confidence in those who have taken the decision to work with me in some capacity.
Continuing the theme of answering client’s questions, I have devoted December’s issue of “The Phil Tyreman Letter” to responding to a collection of the various things I have been asked this year.
It’s called:
“The Big Fat Q&A of the Year 2024”
Ten points if you get the reference.
As an extra bonus, all subscribers (including new subscribers) can select one free copy from the following books I sell:
* Shift
* The Constance Chronicles
* The Weight Loss Manifesto
* The Back and Legs Bundle
As of this writing, all the above books are in stock but if you are tardy in making your selection you may have to wait for me to get more printed.
The deadline to subscribe in time to get December’s issue is 23:59 on the 30th of November.
Your access to my large and shapely brain for assistance with getting strong and in shape begins the moment I have reviewed your onboarding paperwork.
