You know why most attempts at lifestyle change fail?
It’s not that people get it “wrong” per se.
Lifting weights, doing cardio, eating the right stuff, and eating less… vital ingredients one and all.
Rather, the issue is they go from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye and – despite their best efforts – lose control then crash and burn in a fireball of misery and despair.
In other words, they try to do too much at once.
So what ought one to do instead, then?
Well, actually, I have devised a system anyone with an ounce of discipline can follow that I’ve seen work time, and time, and time again.
Here it is:
Step One: Lift weights at least 3x/week and go for a 30 minute walk every day. If you’re reading this, you’re probably (hopefully) lifting weights already. However, experience tells me you’re likely not walking every day without fail – so start unless there’s a medical or some other reason why it wouldn’t be safe for you to do so. Other than these two things, you need not do anything else for the next month. Don’t change your diet. Don’t do loads of cardio. Just lift your weights and do your walk.
Step Two: Eat Better. Now you are in the habit of lifting weights and walking, it’s time to address your diet. Listen: “Dieting” is not as hard as you’ve been led to believe. It’s simply a matter of eating the foods you know are good for you. Meat, fish, veggies, fruits. Like I said, not hard. You’re an adult. You don’t need to eat “food” that comes in brightly coloured packaging featuring pictures of cartoon animals. Do this (and continue lifting weights and walking) for the next month.
Step Three: Eat Less and Better. If you have followed the above instructions, you will be stronger and leaner at this point. Many congratulations. If you’re happy with the rate of progress, continue as you are. If you’ve hit a wall, it’s because you’re eating too much and/or still eating too much garbage. Hence, eat less and better. Do you really need 4 eggs for breakfast? The second helping of the otherwise healthy dinner? The pizza, chips, icecream, and cheesecake “cheat meal” on a Saturday? No, in all likelihood, you do not.
That’s it. That’s the system.
Oftentimes, when I share the above system with people, they tell me it’s “too simple”. This is because they’ve been led to believe getting in shape means adopting disordered behaviours like calorie counting, forking out large sums of money on the right supplement stack, and, increasingly, pharmaceutical drugs.
They’re welcome to believe what they like, of course, but that doesn’t change the fact they are wrong. And, as sure as water is wet, these are the people who look worse year after year after year.
Whatever. Fact is, my methods work.
They may not be particularly exciting, but do you want to be entertained… or do you want to achieve something?
Anyway, I’ve a thing to sell you — if it’s right.
It’s my (to my knowledge) one-of-a-kind monthly printed newsletter, The Phil Tyreman Letter.

P.S. The best part about my stuff is results come quickly but because the methods used to achieve them are sustainable it means you’ll keep your results (and likely improve on them further) long after we’ve parted ways.
