So Jess has been doing some market research on my behalf (because I cannot be trusted to not ask leading questions of clients past and present).
She’s uncovered quite the treasure trove of info that I am sure will fatten my wallet greatly in due course.
Anyway, one recurring theme is that people seem to like the way I tell them what they NEED to hear, rather than what they WANT to hear.
Hmm.
Perhaps “like” is the wrong word. “Respect” probably describes the sentiment better.
Semantics aside, my straight-talking isn’t a deliberate choice to dissuade the delusional, lazy, and entitled from working with me (although it certainly has that effect). Reality is, I don’t have it in me to make outlandish statements implying or outright promising dramatic results in 12 weeks. My brain simply will not allow it (even though I know I’d make a bunch more cash if I did) because such promises cannot be made in good faith.
Let me explain:
For the avoidance of doubt, I’m not saying it’s impossible to get bonkers results within a few short months. In fact, I’m fully conversant with the methods used to attain these transformations (and have used a few myself to good effect, albeit short lived and with undesirable consequences, over the years).
However.
Such are the demands of these methods, most normal, well-adjusted people (i.e. those with a proper job, family, and interests beyond training) will not get anything like what is commonly shown in the “before and after” transformation photos used to sell these programmes.
Instead, only a small minority will, and they are trotted out again and again like prize show ponies by coaches who care nothing for the ruined bodies they leave in their wake.
Suffice it to say, that’s a level of cognitive dissonance I couldn’t live with.
Anyway.
I don’t really know what the “point” of this email is. Other than to say that if you’re fed up with influencers, coaches, PTs, supplement companies, and so on promising you the world yet failing to deliver, maybe what you actually need is a little “reality check”.
Something you’ll get in abundance when you subscribe to my obnoxiously titled Real Paper newsletter called “The Phil Tyreman Letter”.
For the avoidance of doubt, I really do mean it when I say “a great body is just 12 years away”, so if you’re not yet ready to accept that, wait until you are before subscribing (because you will either misuse my information or not use it at all).
A subscription costs £20 per month, which is a lot if you’re not going to read it.
But, if you put what I have to teach into action, I’m happy to go out on a limb and say what you’ll learn will do wonders to aid you in your noble quest to get strong(er) and (more) in shape now and in the future, just don’t expect changes to happen quickly.
