One of the very first things I made clear to Jess were two rules she had to agree to follow if our relationship was to continue.
I think I might have actually dropped them on our first date.
A hopeless romantic, I am not.
Anyway, my rules are as follows:
1) You never hit my kids.
And,
2) You must always do something to stay fit and healthy.
The only people who aren’t OK with the first rule are child abusers and limp-wristed male feminists who have a meltdown whenever they see a man telling a woman she isn’t allowed to do something (even if that “something” is harming a child).
The second rule is where the objections really start to fly.
However, what my detractors fail to notice (willfully or not) is that I don’t specify what activity Jess does to keep herself in shape. Only that she always makes an effort to give her heart, lungs, and muscles a challenge – for her own sake and the sake of our family.
I actually couldn’t care less if she went swimming, did spin classes, or even took nothing more than a simple daily walk.
Although I am mightily pleased that she has chosen to follow my lead on matters of training’ not, if you’ll believe it, because I “told” her to but because they are hands-down the simplest, most unobtrusive, and effective ways to get results.
For example, most everything we do in the weightroom is built around building strength in the core barbell lifts.
Yeah, we do other stuff, too (a smattering of isolation work with dumbbells and machines, for example) – but the meat and potatoes of our programmes are the boring barbell basics that have been proven time and time again over in excess of a century at this point to deliver maximum results in minimum time.
I include such programmes in most issues of “The Phil Tyreman Letter” along with a raft of additional information to help you apply what you’ve learned to meet your personal needs.
When you subscribe you will also get “Virtually Unlimited” access to me, so if you ever find yourself stuck or otherwise struggling, a definitive workaround is never more than 12-24 hours away. (Unless I need longer to do research before answering, but I will let you know basically immediately if that is the case).
A subscription is £120 per month, which I think is very fair – especially when you consider that large bags of whey protein cost more than that in some cases.
I’d also be so bold as to argue that working with me in this capacity will do more to help you meet (and exceed) your goals than chugging slimy protein shakes.
But I am hopelessly biased.
So.
If I’ve piqued your interest, please study the below linked page and the Terms and Conditions page that follows it carefully before committing.
They’re longer than the sales pages you’re probably used to seeing, but perfectly manageable for anyone who hasn’t been infected with TikTok brain.
