“This is how to look like a [censored]….”
Sayeth a man in response to a LinkedIn comment I made about Princess Kate’s little disappearing act.
It seems all that boot polish he’s been eating has given him the vapours because what I said was actually rather tame.
Here’s the comment:
===
“Forgive me for not being especially sympathetic towards the privacy demands of a millionaire (and possibly billionaire) who lives in multiple castles and actively courts public attention in every other aspect of her life.”
===
A few points to note:
1. “Especially sympathetic” does not mean unsympathetic. But I’m not going to go to bat for her because she doesn’t need me to, and I’m not some creepy male feminist white knight.
2. She is a millionaire and does live in multiple castles. So she could easily turn off her internet and still have plenty to keep her occupied.
3. If she wanted to live a life of total comfort without being a public figure, I’m sure she’d have had no trouble bagging some minor aristocrat. Instead, she chose to marry the heir to the throne and that choice has consequences (as all choices do).
Them’s my thoughts.
Anyway, you’re probably wondering what all this has to do with building a powerful physique.
Honestly?
Not much.
But there is a tenuous link, and it’s this:
My view is, people have a bee in their bonnet because they think it’s unreasonable for someone who acts as head of state on certain occasions like, for example, when she stood in for Queen Elizabeth at the Remembrance Sunday event in 2021, to expect total secrecy around their absence from public life.
(And also engage in shenanigans like photograph manipulation that we rightly criticise corrupt world leaders for).
It’s for this reason you cannot expect your wife/girlfriend to support you in your fitness endeavours if you are inconsistent in your approach.
By that I mean you can’t one minute say you’re going “all in” and then decide to skip the gym because you can’t be bothered.
She might give you a pass once or twice. (In much the same way that nobody would have thought anything unusual about Kate dropping out of an event or two without explanation).
Beyond that?
Expect her to take your training as seriously as your actions say you do – that is, not seriously at all.
A huge problem, given that you need her support if you’re going to stick at it long term.
Doubly so if you have kiddos.
And while we’re talking about you sticking at your training for the long term, this is precisely what The Phil Tyreman Letter was created to help you do.
It’s for men who find themselves trapped in the pernicious cycle of hitting the gym, getting results, falling off the wagon, and losing them again.
A word of warning: Much like training, working with me requires dedication, hard work and, above all, patience. So if you’re expecting outstanding results in a month or two, you’re better off looking elsewhere.
What’s more, it’s a big commitment.
Because, if you decide to cancel (which you can do at any time and for any reason or no reason), you won’t be allowed to resubscribe again in the future.
Just letting you know what you’re potentially letting yourself in for.

P.S. No, I’m not a republican.
Ideally, I’d like to be left alone.
However, I’m grown up enough to accept that someone has to be in charge, and if they want to LARP with crowns and fancy titles, so be it.
