Why I won’t be my daughter’s training partner

Paraphrasing another question on how I will introduce my eldest daughter (and two other kids) to training that comes up in conversation from time to time:

“Are you going to train with Connie when she is older?”

The short answer is no.

The longer and more interesting answer is, obviously I’ll show her the ropes (if she would like me to).

But after that, I’m going to leave her to forge her own path, aided by the information in my books, newsletters, and audio recordings. Additionally, and arguably more importantly, I’ll teach her how to critically appraise all the other material she will inevitably stumble across in the wilds of the internet, so she can integrate the good and toss out the drivel.

My rationale for this is very simple: Unless Connie is sufficiently driven to not only train alone, but do so using programmes she has constructed herself upon a solid foundation of the methods and techniques that have stood the test of time, there’s very little point in her training at all.

In fact, I actually think getting into training will do her more physical and psychological harm if she isn’t willing to do the aforementioned. Much better, to my mind, for her to just eat right, take a daily walk, and maybe go for a run every now and again than run the risk of developing an eating disorder by adopting the attitude most fitness dimfluencers have towards food or suffering catastrophic spinal injury when her training partner pushes her to do more than she can manage.

But that’s just me.

Speaking of the sober training-related material my daughter will have access to, the title I am most keen for her to consume when she learns to read is called:

“The Constance Chronicles”

It’s a series of letters I wrote to her in the January of 2024 (one for each day except the first because I forgot I was supposed to start the project). Combined, they reveal exactly how I would recommend someone train to get (and stay) strong and in shape in an ever more unforgiving world.

This is a very expensive book. Quite possibly the most expensive book you have seen advertised, but it still comes in at less than what I am told a lot of people spend on bags of whey protein over the course of a year.

Moreover, to take a bit of the sting out of the price, I have decided to offer anyone who purchases it before tonight (the 16th) at 23:59 a bonus private 1-1 call with me.

The call is one hour long and the time is yours to use as you see fit.

Some have used the calls to have me critique their current programme (up to and including creating a new one from scratch). Others come prepared with a question or series of questions they want answering.

If you would like to use the hour in some other way, that’s fine. As I said, the time is yours to do with what you will.

But you must purchase the book before tonight’s deadline to get a call.

Here’s what’s inside the book, if I have piqued your interest:

Thank you,

Phil Tyreman

P.S. This is a real deadline, meaning that if you purchase after 23:59 you will get your book but not the bonus call. No exceptions.
