Here are three ways to get your spouse into training:
1) Take it seriously
If they believe training is your hobby, they will almost certainly never join you in it.
Support, yes. Enable, perhaps.
But participate?
Nah.
Hence, it must become a fixed, firm part of your routine as important as your job and wiping your bottom after a number two.
2) Do at least some of your training at or from home
If they never see you training, they will probably conclude what you are doing is far beyond their capabilities and desire.
(You can thank the nuggets posting crazy intense nonsense for attention on social media for this.)
But seeing you doing bodyweight workouts or going out for a run and returning within thirty minutes will bridge the gap in their minds between where they are and what they actually need to do to get into shape.
3) Learn why and how training works
This will enable you to man or womansplain what it takes to get results.
Your spouse will probably be surprised by how little work is needed to make modest and sustainable progress.
Moreover, it will enable them (and you) to write your programmes that slot neatly around your other commitments rather than go through the farce of trying to force a square peg into a round hole that often happens when you use what you find online or get a coach to write for you.
Those are my three tips.
I cannot guarantee they will work for you because no amount of convincing, cajoling, or coercing will get anyone (even your spouse) to train in a meaningful way for any length of time if they don’t want to do it for themselves.
Although you can certainly be a positive role model.
Something I would argue you are morally obliged to do.
Anyway, the reason I am telling you this is that “The Christmas Survival Guide” touches on all three of the above points.
* You will be seen to be taking training seriously as you will be doing it when most let it all fall to pieces.
* It includes a variety of workouts you can do at or close to home (to help you navigate gym closures, travel, and so on).
* I go to great lengths to explain how and why my methods work, so you can carry them forward into 2025 and beyond.
At £60, I think it’s a no-brainer but I am biased.
