Behold three things you must be able to do if you are to get (and stay) in shape when yours is a hectic and unpredictable work schedule:
1) Write programmes
Listen: The overwhelming majority of fitness programmes are written by people whose lives revolve around training for people whose lives revolve around training.
That’s not to say they don’t work.
They do. Very well in fact. But only if you are in the fortunate position to be able to devote the balance of your time and attention to training, which I daresay isn’t most “ordinary” people let alone those for whom work steals more of their lives than they’d like.
2) Create contingencies
Even if you write your own programme to suit your needs, there will be times when work throws a spanner in the… erm… works.
When that happens you’re goosed if you don’t have a “grab bag” of contingency plans to pick and choose from to tide you over until things return to your definition of normal.
3) Protect yourself
From illness, injury, and, most deadly of all, other people.
Why?
You are already busy. You are already stressed. Add more on top of this and you will almost certainly fall off the wagon and lose what you have hitherto worked so very hard to gain.
(A vicious cycle I know for a fact most men who care about being in shape are trapped in because they keep telling me).
You’ll learn how to do all three, in some considerable detail, between the covers of my book “Shift” which is on sale for a deep discount until Sunday the 26th of May at 23:59.
