The subtle benefits of walking

Walking is the sole reason I stay relatively lean year-round without really thinking about it.

It’s also responsible for my ability to churn out books, newsletters, articles, emails, and social media posts as well as furnish my clients with detailed, specific advice over email and voice notes – usually within 12 hours of them asking but seldom more than 24 hours in any case.

In other words, it makes me unbelievably productive in my work.

This was something I first noticed nearly a decade ago when I was forced to walk to my soul-sucking corporate non-job because I didn’t have a car. So, every day I’d trudge an hour into town and back again with nothing but my thoughts for company. (I had to pass through a fairly rough area so didn’t think it wise to wear headphones).

Unsurprisingly, I’d think a lot about the things that were bugging me at the time. First and foremost among them being the “productivity” targets set by my employer. On paper, they were reasonable but less so in practice.

This upset a lot of my colleagues, but Yours Baldly here loves a challenge so I used the time on my walking commute to “crack the code”.

And crack the code I did.

So then I started thinking about the next problem – how much I hated that job.

Which I eventually solved by formulating a plan to open my own personal training studio. (An idea that failed miserably and cost me two-thirds of my life savings – entirely due to my naivety about the harsh realities of business).

What’s my point?

Simply, if you are not walking every day without fail for at least forty-five minutes you are missing out. Not only on the benefits to your health and physique which are legion, but also on your ability to perform at your peak in your job or business.

The best part is, it doesn’t involve a grave sacrifice. Only re-jigging your schedule slightly to make the time (sometimes not even that).

Given the benefits, I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to at least give taking a daily walk a try.

Although I understand there are some people for whom this feels too much like hard work.

And if that’s you then you definitely shouldn’t purchase a copy of “The Conditioning Codex” which is on sale until 23:59 tonight (31/3).

Why?

This is a book for men who hate cardio but are prepared to accept it’s necessary to be the strong, healthy provider their family deserves.

A lot of what’s inside is boring and, at times, deeply uncomfortable – but it is very effective, provided you’re willing to get your head down and crack on.

Enter the code JUICY at the checkout to claim the discount. (Make sure you see the price change before you complete your order).
