“What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to someone who is struggling to get results because they’re busy and stressed?”
Not a question I’ve ever been asked directly, but I know it’s something that plays on certain peoples’ minds based on conversations I’ve overheard at the gym and things I’ve read online.
My answer is thus:
Do less but better.
The trick lies in knowing what to cut and what to focus on.
Why?
Get it wrong, and you’ll torpedo the possibility of progress and, potentially, dramatically increase your risk of turning your joints into jam or keeling over from some medical malfunction. (Arguably worse than not training at all where the former is concerned – at least in the short term).
It’s for this reason a large chunk of my book “Shift” is devoted to what I have termed “Minimalist Training”.
It’s a way of making sure all your bases are covered while attacking the stuff that really moves the needle in your pursuit of muscle, strength, and all-round in-shapness.
A must-have for all men whose work demands much from them, in my biased opinion.
