Once upon a time, I was thrust into the back of beyond for what was, I think, a four week training course.
What on?
Not relevant.
But what is relevant is how I managed to maintain my fitness regime without access to my usual accoutrements.
No word of a lie, I was a little concerned going into this course. My great “de-fattening” was still a relatively recent event and I knew my diet was going to consist of MRE ration packs and pub grub, so my fear of backsliding for lack of proper exercise was a genuine one.
My solution?
A hodgepodge of bodyweight exercises, done daily in my hotel room (which sported the very best in 80s decor, floral curtains and all).
It wasn’t a sophisticated routine, but it got the job done – and I even set a little personal best for reps done in a single set of pushups.
In the years since, I’ve refined this approach (including by drawing inspiration from notable figures like “The Great Gama”, Ghulam Mohammad Baksh Butt, of India and the notorious Charles Bronson) to create something markedly more efficient and effective.
It could potentially replace your gym routine entirely, if you can’t or don’t want to go for whatever reason.
Moreover, it’s just one (of two) bodyweight systems included in July’s issue of “The Phil Tyreman Letter” which you must subscribe to before the deadline tonight at 23:59 BST to get.
Subscribers also receive “virtually unlimited” access to me for assistance with whatever I am qualified to assist them with amongst other things.
