“Should I use a Smith machine?”

A week ago, I had a phone call with a reader (I’m not sure if he wants me naming him).

He’s helping Jess out with something, so I figured it fair to return the favour by answering some of his questions about training.

One such question was roughly as follows:

===

“Should I use a Smith machine?”

===

Short answer:

In his case, no.

Longer and general answer:

Still probably no.

The problem isn’t the Smith machine itself.

Used correctly and for an appropriate purpose, it’s a useful tool (same applies to almost anything you’ll find in the gym).

However.

Seldom is it used correctly and for an appropriate purpose.

That’s why the balance of the men you see using it don’t look like they train and you’ll often overhear them complaining about pain in one or a combination of their wrists, elbows, shoulders, back, hips, and knees.

Ultimately, there are more efficient, effective, and, yes, safer ways for the man who trains without “chemical help” to build muscle and strength.

I actually discussed some of those ways with my reader on the call – something he said (again, paraphrasing) fundamentally changed his perspective on how to train correctly for best results.

(He also mentioned how he’s not heard anyone teaching the things I am teaching).

Of course, I’m not going to share the details here because that would be very stupid.

Although I do reveal all in “Silver Era Secrets”.

Clients also get virtually unlimited access to me via one or all of text, email, and voice note for the duration of the programme – so if you have questions you’ll get a specific and detailed answer (usually within 12 hours but almost never more than 24 in any case).
