Rumours abound that the titans of the pre-steroid “Silver Era” such as Reg Park, Steve Reeves, Clancy Ross, John Grimek, and others did, in fact, abuse steroids with reckless abandon.
I don’t know if these rumours are true or not.
Nobody really can because the only people who know for certain are the men and women themselves, and they ain’t talking because they’re dead.
What I do know is that most denied it. Reg Park, for example, maintained he was natural right up until the end, even in private according to his son, Jon Jon. You might say that’s not great evidence of his natural status but, speaking as a father, I couldn’t lie to my son or daughters about something so significant knowing they’d put their reputation on the line to defend my legacy (on camera) after my passing.
Not that the incels inhabiting r/nattyorjuice and other such cesspits of mediocrity could ever understand this, and so the accusations and pseudoscientific “proofs” continue.
Whatever the case, believing these lifters’ claims about being lifetime naturals does no harm in my opinion.
Drugs or not, their physiques are not freakish like those of the bodybuilders, powerlifters, and strongmen of today. Moreover, their earnest promotion of genuinely healthy lifestyles, balanced training regimes built upon a foundation of the core barbell lifts, and nutrient-rich diets can only benefit those who emulate their methods.
The total opposite of the fate awaiting those who ape the antics of the barn door mental health cases who dominate the fitness discourse today and promote the exact opposite of that while paying lip service to “safety” because they’re (rightly) worried about getting sued.
All right, enough of this.
If you would like to learn to construct sustainable yet effective programmes using methods from those halcyon days, I will teach you on my appropriately named private, three month course called:
“Silver Era Secrets”
The fee is £1200 (you can pay in two or four equal instalments if you prefer).
Not the most expensive online personal training programme in the world, especially considering how much value there is in the teachings (past clients from over a year ago are telling me they are still using and benefitting from the system with no plans to stop if that tells you anything).
Still not an amount to be sniffed at, though.
All the more reason to peruse the information at the below URL.
There’s a fair bit to read through, but please make sure you consider it all carefully so you know exactly what you’re letting yourself in for if you decide to go ahead:
