Behold some science.
From a 2022 piece titled, “Anabolic androgenic steroid use population size estimation: a first stage study utilising a Delphi exercise.” (The PDF is freely available online, although if you email me I’ll fire it over to you):
===
“Most of the panel felt that a likely range of between 328,000 and 687,000 (central value 447,000) men aged 15–64 years in the UK having recently used AAS was a plausible estimate. However, this would equate to as many as 1 in 31 men having recently used AAS”
===
One in thirty one men.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Now consider the implications.
From this, I think it’s fair to infer the balance of those who make their living in the fitness industry are abusing steroids.
Even if a given coach is clean, it’s highly likely the people they get their information from are partaking of the naughty juice which colours the advice they give. A fact perhaps best demonstrated by the proliferation of “split routines” and other high-frequency training approaches.
(While it’s true pre-steroid era athletes and bodybuilders used what could be fairly described as bodypart splits, they were almost always used for limited periods in the pursuit of a specific purpose like the leadup to a competition. However, it was vanishingly rare to see them recommended for non-athletes).
What’s my point?
Same as always.
If you want to build muscle and strength without taking drugs, you have to train the way men did before drugs came on the scene.
Something that’s evidently harder today than it has ever been, given how every man and his dog is popping needles in his bottom to cheat his way to a great physique.
There are still a few of us out here, fighting the good fight – training hard without drugs, getting results, and passing that information on to those who want it.
And if you want it, you’ll find it in “Silver Era Secrets”, which you can learn more about below:
