Recently, I discovered I am part of a “lynch mob of sociopathic malcontents”.
My crime?
Having the temerity to suggest adults solve problems with their words and not their fists.
Here’s me thinking this is a pretty normal belief to hold but apparently not according to the kind and tolerant.
None of this is to say I am against the use of force altogether.
I actually think our laws are fair in this regard, offering broad authority for people to defend themselves, others, and their property from aggressors. (I am not a lawyer, but it seems we in the UK are better protected than the citizens of some US states with a “duty to retreat”.)
But battering someone who poses you no threat because they say or do something you disapprove of?
Not acceptable under any circumstances.
The relevance?
Tangential.
Believe it or not, I have never thrown a punch at another person.
This despite having been in a great many more hairy situations than most due to my time in the ambulance service, where dealing with people who were drunk as a skunk, high as a kite, and sometimes both was a regular occurrence.
A lot of this is to do with my demeanor.
I have been told that I am quite relaxed, even in “high pressure” situations.
For example, I was rendering aid to a chap who was unwell after I came across him on my early morning walk. It was about 0530 and I waited with him until the ambulance arrived but while I was waiting a shady character appeared and started hassling me. However, I managed to persuade him to keep walking with words alone.
I also suspect it has a fair bit to do with the fact that I look intimidating.
It’s fair to say that while I am not “huge” (because I don’t abuse steroids), I do possess an appreciable amount of muscle, which probably makes chavs, drunkards, and Karens think twice about getting physical.
I’d be screwed if they did, because I cannot fight my way out of a paper bag.
But I doubt it will ever come to that due to the aforementioned factors.
Appropriately, my latest book (which is very inexpensive) mansplains how to build muscle and strength without abusing drugs so you can also enjoy the confidence and respect intrinsic to possessing a powerful physique.
It’s available on Amazon, and you will find the details at the below link:

P.S. Women will also benefit greatly from the teachings in the book because training to be truly strong, fit, and healthy isn’t an exclusively male pursuit.
