Couple of weeks back, Jess and I went for dinner at a pub.
It was not a fancy pub. A fact perhaps best illustrated by the family in the booth opposite ours.
The dad was enormous – dressed in a t-shirt and loose shorts with a pair of sliders on his trotters (because proper clothes feel awful when you’re fat). His wife and kiddos were equally obese and wearing the same slovenly outfit.
Of course, they’d all gone for the most calorific options on the menu.
A small mountain of brown adorned each plate, luminous sauce spilling down the sides like lava from a volcano.
The kids looked delighted as they shovelled forkful after forkful into their ever-open mouths; both blissfully unaware of the havoc meals like this one had and continue to wreak on their young bodies.
Not that there’s any reason for them to be aware, given they’re only copying their father as innocent children are wont to do.
On a related note, here’s a curious factoid about fat cells:
When you lose weight, your fat cells don’t disappear. Instead, they sit in the body like little balloons just waiting to be filled once more. (This is one reason why most people regain the weight they lose from dieting).
More:
Research shows the number of fat cells in your body is set during adolescence. So, overfeeding kids, quite literally, sets them up for a lifetime of painful struggle with body image, self esteem, and ill health.
If you have kids, I hope my point is an obvious one.
And if you don’t have kids, you’re not off the hook either. Heaven knows you might have them someday so it’s best you embed healthy habits now so you can pass them on later.
If you’d believe it, getting your act together in this regard isn’t especially complicated or even time consuming.
It can be, and I suspect that’s why a lot of guys don’t bother, but it doesn’t have to be.
You just need a simple, sustainable system such as the one I will teach you in “Silver Era Secrets” which you can learn all about here:
