The following is a true story, albeit with some details changed to protect the guilty.
Many moons ago, I was cutting my teeth in the personal training trade on the gym floor.
I got chatting with a girl who’d had some middling success in amateur bikini competitions and had set her heart on qualifying for her “pro card” at a big show that was coming up. (For the uninitiated, in bodybuilding, a pro card entitles you to enter competitions with prize money).
She wasn’t my client, so I didn’t get involved beyond occasionally talking to her about what she was getting up to. But believe you me, that girl was putting herself through the wringer.
Punishing workouts six days per week (often twice per day), getting barely any sleep (because she worked long hours in a demanding job), and her diet…
Yeah. I don’t even want to get started on her diet. Suffice it to say, it was brutal and ridiculous in equal measure.
Fast forward a few months, and I’m no longer working at the gym. (A story for another time).
However, I had kept in touch with my bikini-model friend, and she did not have good news.
That show she darn near ended herself to win?
She didn’t even place. (Only the top few competitors tend to get ranked in bodybuilding shows).
And boy, she did not take it well.
If I remember rightly, she pretty much stopped training altogether and gained a bunch of weight.
A totally understandable reaction, in my opinion. I can’t imagine what it must be like to devote your every waking moment to a goal and then miss it by a country mile.
Although I reckon it’d make me pretty miserable.
As it does many men who go “all in” on a fitness programme, only to get thrown off the wagon and lose all their hard-won results.
It’s a nasty cycle; and one that plays out time and time again – if you lack the tools to anticipate, navigate, and mitigate the normal life events with the potential to disrupt your training. (Holidays, busy periods at work, illness, family stuff, you know the drill).
That’s why everything I teach will, to some extent, help you break out of that cycle.
I’m not gonna promise you a six pack in 12 weeks or something similarly outrageous because I’m offering something better:
Sustainability.
As in, the tactics and strategies you need to get great results, and, more importantly, keep them for years if not decades.
It’s a slower way to get where you want to go, but I dare say it’s the best way.
Anyway.
Today is the last day you can book a private call with me before I close my diary for a month or so.
As a reminder, these calls are only for people who have already recognised they need help to meet their fitness goals, and simply want to discover if I’m the man for the job.
The fee is £150 for an hour, but you get that back if I decide I can’t help you or we agree to work together.
If you’d like to talk, reply to this email with your name and I’ll send you an invoice.
Once paid, I’ll give you a link to my calendar so you can book a time to suit.
Thank you,
Phil Tyreman
P.S. UK residents only because it’s not economical for me to collect and remunerate sales/VAT/consumption taxes in other countries.
