Three to six months.
Is roughly how long men who are at least somewhat serious about training stay the course before “life” causes them to fall off the wagon, and they lose whatever progress they’ve hitherto worked their backside off to gain.
It’s a point I hammer home repeatedly, but today I’d like to clarify one specific part of the equation.
Namely, what I mean by “fall off the wagon”.
Contrary to what you might expect, it doesn’t always mean quitting training altogether.
Actually, in most cases, guys remain plugging away in some way, shape, or form. Except now they’re spinning their wheels where before they were making progress.
Having experienced this exact phenomenon myself a number of times over the years, I know full well how demoralising it is. Working your nuts off for worse than nothing as you watch the results you’ve achieved slip through your fingers.
It’s reason enough to stop training all together.
And you know what?
I don’t blame those who chose this option under these circumstances.
When you’ve got a family and you’re grown up enough to accept you’re no longer the centre of the universe, spending a few hours or more a week training for the square root of naff all becomes an indulgence that’s increasingly hard to justify.
Problem is, the understandable decision to stop training under these circumstances carries consequences:
Listlessness, aches, pains, obesification, illness, and, potentially, an early demise.
But you know that already.
Question is, do you want to do something about it?
If you would like to learn the suite of skills you need to never again “fall off the wagon” – and get all the individual support you could possibly need to put them into practice, now is the best time to subscribe to The Phil Tyreman Letter.
I say it’s the best time because the price of a subscription goes up significantly after 23:59 on Sunday the 28th of April.
