Many moons ago, a friendly policemanofficer (who turned up to assist my colleague and I with a troublesome scene, long after we’d calmed the situation and got to treating the patient) made the following remark which has gone on to inform my thinking in all sorts of ways:
===
“When seconds count, the police are just minutes away”
===
You don’t need to look far for real life examples of how this plays out. Barely a week goes by without someone slashing up innocent train passengers, for example. And that’s just the stuff the media tells us about.
Less “prominent” incidents occur the length and breadth of the country on a daily basis, with the poor victims often being left to fend for themselves for extended periods – if the police even bother to turn up at all and don’t just hand them a crime reference number.
It’s certainly a concern of mine as a father of three young ones, two of them girls (who are, for reasons it is potentially illegal to notice, increasingly suffering the most unspeakable violations).
But this is not a problem without a solution.
I mean, I could immerse myself in the doom and gloom clickbait peddled by certain sections of the mainstream media, YouTubers, and the like while fantasising about having “the right to bear arms” in comments sections mostly populated by edgelord libertarian types who probably shouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.
Although it’s much better to do something meaningful about it, in my opinion.
Like how I am teaching Connie (and Marcus and Lily when they are old enough) to rely on herself first and foremost.
A large part of that is showing her how to be not only fit and strong (to give her the best possible chance of escaping from a threat) but also confident and capable (thereby minimising the likelihood of her ever ending up in a perilous situation to begin with).
Enter:
“The Constance Chronicles”
Which is a series of letters I wrote to her in January 2024 to give her all the info she needs to achieve the above (one for each day of the month except the first because I forgot I was starting the project).
Hopefully she will read them at some point and take the lessons to heart, although I know whether or not that happens will largely depend on how well I model the teachings as she grows up.
Anyway.
I’ve bound the letters into a book which is normally very expensive (I think it’s the third most expensive book I currently sell), but I have decided to take some of the sting out of the price by putting it on sale.
You gotta hurry though, because this jeweled carriage will transform back into a measly pumpkin at the stroke of midnight on Monday.
(The discount code expires at 23:59:59 on Sunday the 9th, in other words).
So, to take advantage of this sale, please do the following:
1. Visit the below URL and read all the information carefully (i.e make an informed purchase). There’s a fair bit to go through, so take your time.
2. Use the code SALMON at the secure checkout (where it says “have coupon code?”).
3. Check the price changes.
4. Proceed with your purchase.
5. Wait a few days to a week for Royal Mail to deliver the knowledge unto you.
