How to get out of a training rut

Probably the best way to get your training unstuck is to make subtle yet impactful changes to your routine.

Example:

Some time ago, I decided I wanted bigger biceps because they’re lagging somewhat and having a well-proportioned physique is important to me.

Most would find or write an entirely new programme to support this particular goal (a decision that carries all sorts of tangible and intangible risks).

I, on the other hand, simply made a couple of small modifications to my existing routine that resulted in pleasing gains in the size and strength of my biceps rather swiftly.

Better: The changes to my routine were so slight, everything else carried on moving forwards as planned.

In other words, my “biceps focus” didn’t cause me to stall or lose progress in other aspects of my training.

And once I was satisfied that my broceps were sufficiently juicy?

The transition back to what I was doing before was utterly seamless.

The lesson?

I believe it’s better to create and follow a “baseline routine” that you can tweak to suit your needs and aspirations than ping from pillar to post with a totally new routine every few weeks.

Others disagree and they are entitled to be wrong.

So.

If you want such a baseline routine, I broadly explain how to write one (and give plenty of examples to get your cogs whirring) in my latest book:

“The Muscle and Strength Building Manual for the Natural Trainee: A straightforward guide for those who have made the bold decision to train without using steroids or other PEDs”

The title explains the contents.

It is available very inexpensively through Amazon.

But please only purchase it if you are prepared to put in a lot of work over an extended period of time.

Otherwise your £3.99 is better spent at Costa.
