How to get a more aesthetically pleasing physique

Hark unto what I would do if I wanted to improve the aesthetic appeal of my physique:

* First, I’d hammer away at basic bodyweight work and cardio (specifically running) to drop excess blubber, toughen up my heart, lungs, and bones for the work ahead, and probably put a bunch of size on my arms (from all the pushups and pullups I would be doing).

* Next, I’d spend a little time building “repping strength” (i.e. strength in the >6 rep range) to facilitate the use of heavier loads with greater control in the “little” exercises like chest flyes and side raises as well as resistance machines in general which are all essential for bringing up weak points.

* Then, I’d crack on with a muscle-building programme proper, meaning lots of volume while keeping rest periods as short as I could safely manage with special attention given to the weakest part (in the aesthetic sense) of my physique (always has been and probably always will be my anemic chest).

* Lastly, if I really wanted to go some, I’d dial up the weekly volume and frequency as high as I could handle for as long as I could handle it (stopping before it got “too much” though, obviously) to bring my body fat down while maintaining as much muscle as possible.

That’s the approach, in broad strokes.

If you want me to lay it out for you in meticulous detail, grab yourself a copy of “The Greek Physique”.
