Here’s a rough outline:
* Decide how many days per week you’re going to train;
* Pick one exercise for each of your major muscle groups. Ideally ones that are both productive and somewhat enjoyable, but neither of those trumps your ability to perform the movement competently and without pain;
* Train on the days you said you were going to train;
* Begin every single workout with a simple warmup – no exceptions;
* Start with a very light weight (you’re doing this part right if you feel embarrassed by how light it is);
* Do a couple to a few light sets to get a feel for your first exercise, then do one or two sets of eight to ten reps that feel somewhat challenging;
* Repeat for the remainder of your exercises;
* Add weight as and when you feel ready to do so (but not a moment before);
* Stay the course for three to six months or so.
I can’t guarantee this will get you the results you want (or any results at all, for that matter).
But I daresay what I’ve described is far more efficient and effective than switching up your exercises every week, busting your backside on “challenge” workouts, or not really training at all.
However.
None of this is any use at all if you keep falling off the wagon and losing whatever progress you’ve worked so hard to make.
It’s a problem that blights the hardworking man’s attempts to build a powerful physique and lead a healthier, happier life for their own sake and for the sake of their family, that’s for sure.
Doubly so when they want to do it all without steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
I’ve got the solution, and it’s not even particularly expensive. (Not that you should make the decision to purchase on price alone).
It’s called:
