Is a question to which there is no hard-and-fast answer.
However.
I do have an answer for the man who simply wants to be generally stronger, leaner, and more muscular for his own sake and the sake of his family if he has one (i.e. not an amateur or professional athlete, or anyone with a highly specific goal in mind).
And my answer is…
Two sessions per week.
What’s this? Yours Baldly giving a definitive answer in a free email? Maybe Hell has finally frozen over.
Alas, no.
There’s an art to lifting two days a week without throttling, stopping, or even reversing your progress that I couldn’t possibly explain in a single email. (Not that I would if I could because I have a thin, attractive wife and two delightful cherubim to keep fed and housed).
Although I will say that it involves basing your workouts around the big compound lifts, supplemented with a smattering of targeted isolation work to bring up weak points, promote joint health, and bring balance to your physique.
You are welcome to do your own research from there, and see if you can get it to work for you.
Alternatively, you can purchase “The Weight Loss Manifesto” wherein I teach how to design a two day per week lifting programme with the potential to deliver respectable results in a fraction of the time you’re spending in the gym right now.
Note: I am showing you how to design programmes, not spoon feeding you a suite of cookie-cutter routines. (I do include an example you can follow “as is”, but I still recommend you write your own).
This means you will have to do some thinking to get the most out of the Manifesto, so you’re better off giving it a miss if you find that difficult.
Otherwise, below is the link to the sales page which I suggest you read very carefully before placing your pre-order, to make sure your decision is an informed one:
