“I’ve just completed my second lifting session of this week, the third in total since we started working together. I’m enjoying the sessions far more than I can remember enjoying a lifting session for many years – for various reasons. Added to my enjoyment is that whilst I was aware of your advice to not go on my phone etc. throughout the workout, because I’m more actively concentrating on the workout – both because it’s new and I’m getting used to it, but also because I’m concentrating on my form and not trying to be a hero; the urge hasn’t crossed my mind either and the result is simply more enjoyable, as I only tend to read emails that stress me out anyway!”

This is probably the best example I have heard in a while to show why my approach works so well.
Specifically, everything is connected:
* Full body lifting sessions (which I typically prescribe) provide a healthy challenge the body and mind you simply cannot get from other methods,
* Part of that is how the broad variety of lifts (some of which are fairly technical) demands your full and unblemished attention,
* Moreover, the demanding nature of the workout precludes heroics because you won’t want to charge out of the gate knowing you’re tackling not one but several big, multi-joint exercises,
* Combined, this actually shortens the workout duration (because you are not distracted by your phone nor lifting so heavy you need five or more minutes to recover between sets), freeing you up to attend to your other obligations and enabling you to leverage “training density” for pleasing gains in size and strength.
The catch?
You have to want to train using my methods and you have to do so for a long time (years, not months) otherwise they won’t work.
So if that is not the case, I recommend you train using a methodology you truly believe in and, critically, enjoy because that will probably get you better results than “perfect” programming performed absent joy.
(Something I have thought ever since I noticed how gymbros would get stellar results from nonsensical programmes – or even no programme – whereas the guys slaving away at StrongLifts or some other “internet approved” approach with faces like slapped bottoms remained fat and weak.)
To aid you in determining if what I teach is right for you, I recommend you purchase a copy of one of my inexpensive Bargain Bucket Books:
“The Muscle and Strength Building Manual for the Natural Trainee”
Both Kindle and paperback versions are available.
