Yesterday, I made a passing comment about how I have not sold a weight loss offer (apart from my book and a few newsletters on the subject) for the last few years.
Here is why that is:
1. The weight loss space is packed with bros and broettes promising the world while trotting out at best maybe the top 1% of their clients like prize show ponies as “proof” of their methods (despite the other 99% not achieving anywhere near the same), and I’m wary of being tarred with the same brush.
2. People get fat for certain reasons and often they are unwilling or unable to acknowledge those reasons, let alone take meaningful action to tackle them… and… sometimes, much of the time, even, I’m not remotely qualified to help (e.g. when it’s principally a serious “diet and relationship with food” problem).
3. Related to the previous point but distinct enough to be addressed individually, most are wanting a “quick fix” (whether they are prepared to admit it or not) and I don’t sell those (my whole schtick is literally pursuing results slowly) and I won’t do the “sell ‘um what they want, give ‘um what they need” thing because it’ll only result in stress and strife all parties could do without.
4. Fat people are more likely than not-fat people to be late to calls, fail to engage with the written material I send them, want everything laid out on a silver platter, break contracts, etc. in my experience (I am not saying ALL fat people are like this, but I cannot ignore the correlation).
All of this combines to make the market for those who would benefit from my weight loss methodology (and who I would enjoy working with) extremely small.
So obviously, I have decided to launch a weight loss offer because I enjoy a challenge or am terrible at business, depending on your point of view.
Whatever the case, if you DON’T recognise yourself in any of the four points outlined above, and you’d like to learn an honest, sustainable “Training First” approach to weight loss (i.e. one that doesn’t rely on bone-mulching workouts or dietary shenanigans), please first take the “Training Confidence Quiz”.
Why the quiz first?
‘Cuz it’ll give you an indication as to whether yours are problems I can actually fix, and you can review my appraisal of your situation based on your responses to see if you agree.
After that, we’ll need to talk to get the measure of one another and so I can tell you what’s involved, the price, etc.
Anyway, here’s the quiz if you are interested:
