“What is your message?”
Jess ambushed me with this question right at the start of a recent podcast episode.
My response was a garbled mess so horrendous, we had to restart the recording.
Then she asked me again in a slightly different way.
A minor domestic ensued.
I’m joking.
Maybe.
Onward:
The reason I can’t give an off the cuff answer to this question is that my “message” is instructive, so it’s very important I choose my words carefully. Otherwise, I might mislead – which could cause problems for the listener and, selfishly, me.
So, here is what I preach written down in black and white:
* Every man who is free from serious illness and/or injury can work towards building a powerful physique – if he wants to.
* While he might not get all the results he wants, he’ll almost certainly end up in better shape than he is right now, provided he takes the right actions with discipline and intent.
* Those “right actions” are: Walking every day without fail, lifting weights at least a couple of times per week, doing some form of hard cardio, and eating sensible qualities of homecooked food made with fresh ingredients.
* Sports supplements contribute little (or, in some cases, nothing) towards performance or aesthetic goals, so money spent on them is better invested in getting information and support from an appropriately qualified professional.
* Steroids and other performance enhancing substances are dangerous and anyone who takes them is, bluntly, an idiot.
Alright.
I’ve just given you the “what you need to do”.
