A pattern I have noticed among men who train is that often their beliefs about the state of their physiques do not align with reality.
Take a chap I DM’d recently.
He rebuffed my advance, claiming to already be training regularly and rocking a body fat percentage in the mid-teens.
However.
His profile picture told a different story, showing a double chin and chubby cheeks.
Suspicions suitably raised, I did a little snooping and found some more pictures all of which showed a rather portly fellow.
Of course, it could be that these were old pictures.
Maybe the clothes he was wearing were not especially flattering.
Who knows?
Anyway.
I got to talking with Jess about this issue over our mid-morning coffee, and she said in the blunt tone born of the “take no prisoners” attitude she has towards men who don’t measure up:
“They’re deluded.”
You can say that’s harsh. But untrue?
No.
Believe it or not, I’m a little more sympathetic to their plight. As I wrote in the introduction to my forthcoming book the other day:
===
Many corpulent creatures want you to believe you are incapable; too busy and stressed to train for a mere fifteen to thirty minutes every day. They want you to think this way because it validates their own terrible choices, and creates a society in which their miserable existence is the norm.
In this they have been largely successful.
===
Translation:
The bar has been set so low even the most minor of achievements that probably wouldn’t have even been recognised as such twenty years ago are now remarkable. Hence, we see people who are still very much out of shape cavorting about with delusions of grandeur.
Sadly, I can’t help these people (because they don’t believe they need it, despite their plight being self-evident to any rational observer).
But those who are training hard yet have both the insight and humility to recognise they’ve room for improvement?
Them’s my people.
If that is you and you are willing to sling some coin in my direction for an efficient, effective, and unobtrusive solution, you will find all the details below:
