Addressing why you can’t hold on to your results

A recurring theme in the conversations I have with men about training is the problem of training hard, getting results, falling off the wagon, and returning to square one.

Come to think of it, this gets mentioned in every conversation in some way, shape, or form.

And understandably so. It’s demoralising to do most everything “right” only to lose what you’ve worked and sacrificed for – often for many months – in what seems like the blink of an eye.

Doubly so when the “thing” that caused you to slip up is largely or entirely beyond your control.

Then there’s the thorny matter of regaining what you’ve lost.

In some cases, you’ll get back to where you were relatively quickly (thanks to a collection of biological mechanisms that make it easier to recover muscle and strength than to build it in the first place).

But this doesn’t always happen, mainly because gains slow down considerably once you hit your 30s.

Moreover, it’ll only get you back to where you were when you stopped training as hard (or entirely). Moving beyond that point is a real challenge when you’re trapped in the cycle of getting results and losing them again.

Which, I imagine, is why a lot of men resort to abusing anabolic steroids and other substances.

Just stick a needle into your bottom a few times a week and, hey presto, you’re bigger and stronger than you were before things went awry.

Sure, you’ll probably have to deal with some nasty side effects, and you might even die (if not from the gear itself then from complications associated with intramuscular injection like infection) – but what does that matter if it means you don’t have to address the root cause(s) behind why you can’t hold on to your results?

Yes, it is as stupid as it sounds.

So, what is the man who is committed to training naturally to do?

In my biased opinion:

Get the right information and specific advice to put that information into practice.

If you’re serious about training then you already know there are no “magic bullets” and at the mere hint of someone trying to sell you one your BS alarm sounds off like a jet engine.

You also know you need to double down on the basics, and figure out how to navigate the various disruptions that have hitherto thwarted your quest for consistent results you can use as a springboard to ever greater things.

Speaking of you getting results, I’m looking for a handful of men who want to build muscle and strength without inserting needles into their bottoms.

I can’t promise specific results because everybody is different.

To qualify you must be:

1) Male.

2) UK based.

3) Training regularly.

4) Brave enough to admit you don’t know everything.

5) Bold enough to commit to a solution now and not at some indeterminate point in the future.

If that’s you, email the word TRIGGERED to phil@philtyreman.co.uk, and we’ll take it from there.

Thank you,

Phil Tyreman
