A whack from the senescence stick

Believe it or not, this is the first email I have written in probably four or five days.

Ordinarily, I sit down to write at least one every day but last week threw me a few curveballs.

What happened?

Not important.

But what is important is how difficult I am finding getting back into the swing of writing emails (a task I usually find contemptuously easy) and how this applies to getting strong and in shape.

Settle in while I mansplain why:

Unplanned breaks are murder for routine tasks.

Particularly if those tasks are mundane and require a bunch of effort (be it physical, mental, or both).

Training ticks both boxes. Hence, falling out of routine is likely to result in you falling off the wagon for many weeks, months, or, in certain cases, years. The net result being the body and performance you have busted your gut to earn begin to crumble (often rapidly), landing you right back where you started.

Actually, it’s worse than that.

Father Time, crotchety old coot that he is, will make sure you wind up in a worse position by whacking you with the senescence stick.

More:

When you try to start training again, everything will be far and away harder than you are used to; meaning you are more likely to hurt yourself in the pursuit of reclaiming what you have lost.

The one shining light is that you’ll probably find getting back to somewhere approximating where you were before you quit is a relatively swift process (there are a few biological mechanisms at play which speed the process of recouping lost gains).

But it is contingent on you following the right approach and even then there are no guarantees.

The solution to all of this is, of course, not to fall off the wagon at all. (I credit the fact that I have not taken a single unplanned break from training since I started taking it seriously in 2009 for literally everything I have achieved.)

However.

This is easier said than done, especially around Christmas time when gyms are shut, distractions are plentiful, and indulgence the (un)Holy Spirit of the season.

All the more reason to sling £60 in my direction for “The Christmas Survival Guide” – my 14-day email course backed by my well-regarded “Virtually Unlimited Support”.

Full details are on the informative and entertaining sales page below.

Please read the whole thing carefully before making a decision.

I know £60 isn’t exactly a lot of money, but there’s little point in wasting it on something you are unlikely to benefit from:
