The above is a shoulders and arms specialisation routine that I have chosen to run despite them being my most well-developed muscle groups by far.
Why?
Ever since I read “The Four Hour Work Week” in 2017, I have believed strongly that doubling down on your strengths is the key to achieving noteworthy things.
It’s a sad fact of life that we do not all possess the genetics, attitude, and lifestyle of Reg Park, Dmitry Klokov, or Tommy Kono – all men who were and (in one case still is) freakishly strong while possessing impressive, well-balanced physiques.
So, we have to work with what we’ve got lest our results be a bit “meh”.
It’s for this reason that I really don’t care that my bench press is (comparatively) in the toilet because I can confidently barbell overhead press my bodyweight for reps while standing and without a belt (a feat few ever attain).
Likewise, I don’t care that my pecs are basically non-existent because my shoulders and arms are striking enough to give my upper body considerable presence.
The lesson?
It’s OK and, in many cases advantageous, to do more of what you’re good at and less of what you’re not so good at – so long as you maintain a degree of balance in your training. (I.e. this is not licence for you to become Captain Upperbody or stop doing cardio).
For assistance in exploiting your strengths and shoring up your weaknesses, consider working with me privately for three months on my “Silver Era Secrets” programme.
A bit of googling tells me it’s not a whole lot more expensive than a supply of whey protein or a couple of meals at a middling restaurant, so you can probably afford it.
Whether you’re game is ultimately a question of if you trust me sufficiently to do as I tell you (and able to read because my instructional material is delivered in written form on Real Paper).
