Cometh a reply from a reader (who shall remain anonymous) concerning an email I sent about how my thin, attractive wife has remained thin and attractive while pregnant:

Super email.
I’m of the opinion that 90+% of looking good is the food you shove in your pie hole.
I think pregnancy gives people the same excuse to eat like a pig as a two week holiday or Christmas does… except it’s 9 f****** months.
We don’t need much of an invite to shove 3 quintillion calories in our gob. Our survival mechanism demands it.

He is partly right.
Many women do see pregnancy as an excuse to let loose, heedless of the harms they are causing to themselves and their children through their gluttony.
Likewise, it is very hard not to overeat when presented with the opportunity – and even moreso when you are or have ever been fat.
Yes, I am saying the struggle doesn’t stop even after you lose the weight.
This is something I know from bountiful personal experience of being a hideous obeast myself, and of working with clients to solve their weight problems.
However.
He is wrong in thinking that 90+% of looking good is the food you eat.
Kinda.
What I mean is that he is technically correct, but the reality is eating right is an utterly miserable experience absent a compelling reason to do so.
This is why I advocate a “training first” approach.
Because, once training correctly is a fixed, firm part of your life that you cannot possibly dream of doing without, a desire to eat well to fuel that training and drive ever greater results naturally follows.
Note: I said “training correctly”. Fart-arseing about on machines, hitting some classes, and maybe going for a run once in a blue moon doesn’t cut the mustard.
Appropriartely, you will find an efficient, effective, balanced, and sustainable training method in my book “The Weight Loss Manifesto”.
It’s my most inexpensive book. Not because it’s less valuable than my other works but because I believe the content is so important I don’t want price to be a barrier to anyone getting their hands on it.
Ultimately, if you can afford enough food to need a copy, you can afford it.
