A man like Philip

Behold some gold medal worthy mental gymnastics:

===

“I am wondering why you felt the need to write “I took my thin and attractive pregnant wife to the park”. That feels not cool to me. Examples get set in all sorts of ways, like how you speak about women and their body shapes. It sounds a bit misogynistic to me.“

===

Yes, this is a lady crying “MiSoGiNeEeE!!1” because I *gasp* complimented my wife on her physical appearance.

Guilt and jealousy are a potent combination, I guess.

Anyway.

What drives Jess to keep at it?

Me.

Ooooh.

Very controversial indeed, given a vocal minority in society see a woman who holds herself to any sort of standard for the sake of another as a victim of abuse.

But what these simps and cat ladies fail to accept is that it’s quite normal for a woman to be inspired by and want to follow the example of a strong man who loves her with all his heart, mind, and soul.

Likely because the former are not capable of giving that type of love and the latter are unworthy of receiving it.

Oh look, there’s that cocktail of guilt and jealousy again.

Anyway.

There’s a Russian propaganda pop song called “Takogo, kak Putin!” (A man like Putin) that was released in 2002.

The singers tell of having a terrible partner who they decide to leave and their desire for their new man to be like Putin (hence the title).

Originally written to win a $300 bet that any song can be a hit with the right message, even with a small budget, the sarcastic tone is obvious to all who hear it, yet, the record was adopted by Putin’s team and used heavily in his 2004 re-election campaign (a masterful example of counter-trolling if ever there was).

How is this even remotely relevant to what we’ve hitherto been discussing?

Hark unto the chorus:

===

“I want a man like Putin, who’s full of strength

I want a man like Putin, who doesn’t drink

I want a man like Putin, who won’t make me sad

I want a man like Putin, who won’t run away”

===

None of this is an endorsement of Putin or the Russian Federation (sorry MI5, I’m not going to make it that easy for you).

However, there is much to be gleaned about how a man ought to be in those four lines.

There is also much to be gleaned about how a man ought to train so he can fulfil the first of those lyrical tenants (from which the others proceed) in September’s issue of “The Phil Tyreman Letter”.

Attack your workouts with discipline and intent, and you may even find your wife or girlfriend is moved to join you – no convincing, cajoling, or coercing required.
