Why the “male menopause” is a nonsense

It seems my view on TRT continues to greatly upset some people.

For example, one chap said that the “andropause” is basically the same as the menopause because they are both the consequence of hormonal decline in later life.

This is a false equivalence and proof, if ever there was, that people who are not doctors should not be doling out medical advice to people on the internet.

“But Phil, you’re not a doctor so you have no right to comment on this!”

Shriek my detractors.

Except, I am not stating my own opinion. Rather, I am parroting the official advice on the subject as evidenced by the below extract from an article titled “The ‘male menopause’” on the official NHS website:

===

“Is there such a thing as a “male menopause”?

The “male menopause” (sometimes called the andropause) is an unhelpful term sometimes used in the media.

This label is misleading because it suggests the symptoms are the result of a sudden drop in testosterone in middle age, similar to what occurs in the female menopause. This is not true.

Although testosterone levels fall as men age, the decline is steady at about 1% a year from around the age of 30 to 40, and this is unlikely to cause any problems in itself.

A testosterone deficiency that develops later in life, also known as late-onset hypogonadism, can sometimes be responsible for these symptoms, but in many cases the symptoms are nothing to do with hormones.”

So what should one do, if one is experiencing symptoms consistent with the so-called “male menopause” like tiredness, mood swings, and inability to make snu snu due to a floppy weeny?

From the same article:

* lack of sleep

* a poor diet

* lack of exercise

* drinking too much alcohol

* smoking

* low self-esteem

Mostly things you can address by following the simply, three phase process outlined in my latest work “The Weight Loss Manifesto”.

(The other thing is to stop smoking, which I am happy to tell you to do for free because it is a filthy habit that causes immeasurable harm to you and those unfortunate enough to be around you).

You can pre-order “The Weight Loss Manifesto” for the Special Pre-Order Price of £10.

The price will go up somewhat once the pre-order window is closed (date TBA once I get my act together and complete the necessary promotional material).
