For my sins, I spend a fair amount of time on LinkedIn shilling my stuff.
One thing I’ve come to notice is the sheer number of jobseekers whinging, whining, moaning, and complaining about their situation.
Don’t get me wrong, I imagine being without a job is very stressful for a lot of people. However, I can’t see how fishing for sympathy-likes from internet strangers will help in any way. (It’ll prolong their agony, if anything, given a lot of hiring managers review candidates’ social media profiles these days – and raging at the universe ain’t a good look, in my unqualified opinion).
Especially as getting a job is very easy, as Jess proved recently when she decided to return to the workplace “proper” for the first time since she went on maternity leave prior to having Connie way back in 2020.
Despite a four year CV gap (and a spotty career history prior), she landed an interview within 6 hours of starting her search.
How?
She cold called the hiring manager and asked for one.
The interview itself went swimmingly, and she had a shiny job offer sitting in her inbox within an hour of it finishing. (Thanks in no small part to her proactive approach, I’m sure).
The lesson?
Do what you need to do to get the things you want.
More often than not, this involves doing the difficult and uncomfortable – what most say they “can’t” do when the reality is they simply “won’t”.
So it is with your training.
If you’re reading this you’re smart enough to know you aren’t going to get results, much less keep them, without a sustainable programme you’ve written with your own hands.
Something you need to learn how to do if you’re as serious about getting into shape as you say you are, and something I’ll be delighted to teach you when you pony up a rather modest sum for “Silver Era Secrets”.
