From Jess regarding my latest rant about PED abuse:
===
“I’ve been thinking about this a bit more. People may think this is just us sitting on our high horses saying “We don’t work with druggies” but it’s not, and here’s why:
PEDs have become a normal part of the fitness industry, as has writing diet plans, and advising on (and more worryingly diagnosing) injury.
But just because it’s become the norm doesn’t mean PTs are qualified to do so. In the same way it’s become normal for doctors’ receptionists to grill you about your symptoms. Doesn’t mean they should.
And I respect you for staying firmly in your wheelhouse, even when it costs you something!
Love you
Jess”

She’s not wrong.
Offering services you’re completely unqualified to render is de riguer in the fitness industry.
Whether that’s writing prescriptive meal plans (which nobody other than a registered dietitian ought to do), training people who are too sick to train (which is potentially lethal), or trying to “rehab” certain injuries (the sole purview of a registered physiotherapist).
She’s also not wrong about how much my sticking firmly in my wheelhouse costs us in lost sales.
No matter.
I’d rather shift boxes in a warehouse than compromise my integrity by providing services that are beyond my scope of practice.
(Not that there’s anything wrong with shifting boxes in a warehouse).
Anyway.
My book “The Conditioning Codex” is on sale until 23:59 on Sunday the 31st of March.
It’s for men who hate cardio but are prepared to accept it’s necessary to be the strong, healthy provider their family deserves.
If that’s you I daresay it’ll be the most important book you will ever read.
