Back when I owned a personal training gym, one of my clients asked me the following:
“Don’t you find doing the same lifts over and over again, month after month, year after year boring?”
My answer?
Yes, but that’s irrelevant.
Here’s why: I’ve been doing the same six lifts and their close variations for a decade and a half at this point.
Like it or not, training these six lifts is the most efficient and effective way for any man who isn’t pumped up on PEDs to build a powerful physique (i.e. one that looks every bit as good as it performs).
Sure, it’s boring sometimes.
But you know what?
Going to work is boring sometimes, too. Yet you still go and do a good job while you’re there despite your feelings as it’s how you provide for your family. To do otherwise would be nothing short of neglect.
Training is much the same.
You don’t go to the gym for entertainment – at least, you don’t if you’re serious about getting reliable, predictable, sustainable results.
You’re there to do a job, which means doing stuff you don’t always want to do in service of the greater good.
I’ve been at this long enough to know the only men who succeed are the ones who think this way. (They’re the men you see plugging away at the basics like clockwork).
Those guys who follow dozens of influencers and bounce from programme to programme looking for “the secret”?
They come and go like mayflies.
Anyway, while I have your attention, I want to mention that I’ve decided to open my diary for private calls.
However, I need to filter those who simply want to pick my large and shapely brain from those who are serious about working with a personal trainer but aren’t sure if I’m the man for the job.
To that end, I charge £150 for an hour.
You’ll get that back if I decide I can’t help you or we agree to work together.
I think this is fair, but only you can decide if that’s the case from your perspective.
If you’d like to talk, reply to this email with your name and email address using the subject line CALL, and I’ll send you an invoice.
Once paid, I’ll send you a link to my calendar wherein you can book a time to suit.
Thank you,
Phil Tyreman
